Masks are here and they are the next biggest trend in paper crafting. They were introduced to the industry last winter by the fabulous Heidi Swapp. This fall, Tim Holtz designed his own line (complete with Heidi Swapp's seal of approval on the back)!
Many have inquired - what are masks and how are they used? Well here is a link to a very informative video hosted by Tim Holtz on the many diverse uses of masks. Click
Here to see the video - I guarantee you will learn something!
Masks are reusable stencils that allow you to add a new dimension to any project that you are working on by leaving a "negative space" when removed. The possibilities and techniques are endless. They are made of clear plastic with a repositionable adhesive on the back. You can even wash the mask without compromising the adhesive at all.
Some of the techniques that Tim shows in the video are to ink over them using the
Inkssentials Ink Blending Tool , paint over them with
Adirondack Paint Dabbers, stamp over them (very cool!), spray color wash or glimmer mist over them using a
Mini Mister, and even sand over them with Tim's
sanding block to give an awesome embedded effect (very, very cool!).
Since Masks are affordable, durable,
and easy to store, it is easy to get addicted to their power. Here are a few of the masks we sell in the store. Be sure to check out the store for the complete line available!
