HOT TIP!!! Alter your Tim Holtz Texture Fades!

Happy Crafty Monday!

Have you ever wanted to emboss something with a Tim Holtz Texture Fade and your medium is longer than the embossing folder? Well, lucky for you, Tim Holtz has thought of EVERYTHING and has offered this quick and easy fix for you!

All pictures are courtesy of Tim Holtz's Blog HERE. Please visit for many more ideas and endless inspiration!

Well, the solution is simple! Just whip our your handy dandy Tim Holtz Craft Knife and start cutting!!!

Open up your Texture Fade and use your Craft Knife to cut a slit in the top crease of the embossing folder. Just don't cut the whole length! (If you do...tape helps;). Be sure to leave about a 1/2" on BOTH sides so the end result looks like the picture to the right.

Now you can slide your #8 Manila Tags right in and emboss the body of the Tag, leaving the top part plain. Or...you can emboss 12" strips of paper for your scrapbook and get a continuous pattern!

The Texture Fade featured is from the Bingo & Patchwork set...one of my favorites! Check it out HERE! Need Tim's new Vagabond Sizzix Machine? It is available for PREORDER now! Look HERE for more info!

Thank you Tim for your thoughtfulness! This opens up a whole new world of embossing possibilities!

Back to School...already?

Learning Curve Stamps

Is is really already back to school time? This really crept up on me and now the weather is even getting cooler (at least for today). Good news though! With all of the extra time you may have now that your kids have returned to school, you can craft! Bo Bunny, one of my favorite brands, has just come out with a few new items to help with this process! And how handy is that "This book belongs to" stamp??

Learning Curve iCandy Brads
I really like these new Learning Curve Brads too. They have the simple ABCs and 1,2,3s that are perfect for scrapbooking your child's first day back to school. My mom always took our pictures on the first day of school - usually in this huge oak tree that had four trunks (at least until they cut it down). Ah, those were the days! I like the clock brad in this set a lot. It may be hard to see, but the brad on the top left has cursive lettering on lined paper - classic.

Crayon
And now for some other cute brads! These Crayon brads are by Eyelet Outlet. Almost too cute!! A great addition to that scrapbook page or for a "invite the teacher to lunch" card

These adorable ribbons are great for lining cards or any other project - maybe you want to thank your child's teacher ahead of time for the time and care they will give to your child. The apple is a pop-out sticker and the ribbons are accompanied by a button. I like the bottom yellow ribbon best, personally but they would all be useful for one project or another : )

Rubber Stamps for Teachers
Maybe you are a teacher. If this is the case, THANK YOU for your patience, time, and know-how! Believe it or not, I used to hate writing in 1st grade and my teacher worked with me so that I'd be more comfortable with it (thanks Mrs. Stewart!). The stamps to the left are great for that extra encouragement that all kids require.

Or maybe your youngest isn't of school-age yet and he wishes he could get on the school bus with big sister and brother. This set could be fun for him to get to play school at home!

Feel free to browse the School Teacher section of our store for lots of great ideas, tools, and fun products!

Happy Crafting!

Simon's Paper Piecing Challenge!

Hello there! This week's challenge involves paper piecing, which, as defined by the lovely Jo, requires the following: "you stamp your image onto white card and also onto patterned paper. You then cut out the shapes you want from the patterned paper and glue it to your image on the white card. You can paper piece anything but its usually clothing and accessories."

For the rules and how to enter to win a $25 gift voucher to our store, check out the Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog and look in the left side column for directions. : )

Here is what our brilliant Design Team has made for this week:

Jo used buttons on her card, which is always a nice touch. Like these buttons? Check out Kioshi buttons by Basic Grey! To browse our complete collection: all buttons!

Martine used a gorgeous poinsettia flower on her card. Tim Holtz and Prima joined together to make Poinsettias (leaves and flowers included in this tin - score!!). I also like the Willow with Lantern Stamp (by Whiff of Joy - expected to come in any day now). Like the "Christmas Wishes" sentiment? For something similar, we have Holiday Wishes by Hero Arts - it's a really great variety of holiday sentiments!

Chris used a superb embossing folder by Cuttlebug called - you guessed it - Stars. Like the pink and white star paper? Me too!! It's a lot like Magnolia's Card Stock Paper Pink Starlit. (Pink Starlit also comes in the Fairytale Paper Pack)

Lols used a sweet stamp by Penny Black called Sweet Thing! I really like the embellishments in the top right corner too - these are Robin's Nest Dew Drops in the color Purple Hair (hehe). There's so much to like about this card, but I'll just pick one more specialty item - the flower-shaped buttons. I can't get enough of shaped buttons. Try Flower Card Buttons by Hero Arts for a close look.

Debby embossed the white background behind Tilda - such a subtle, pretty accent. It's a great additive to a Christmas card - try Cuttlebug's D'vine Swirls. I really like the punch around the image too. For a different, (but in my opinion equally as attractive), punch, try Modern Garland by Martha Stewart.

Christine used a Magnolia stamp called Lace Banner which is super because it comes blank so you can add whatever sentiment you want! Did you know what Magnolia has a whole collection of flower and leaf embellishments? For something like what Christine used, check out the Purple flowers.

Created by Jackie!
(PS-we're glad to have you again!!)
Jackie used pearl embellishments on her card. If you need them, we have Medium Accent Pearls by Hero Arts.

Domi's owl stamp is so cute!! Penny Black makes this stamp and it's called Nocturne. For a tag like this, check out the Manila 100 Bulk Pack!

Jane used gorgeous papers!! If you want something very similar, try Cappella by Basic Grey. I love how she colored the Tilda image as well. If you want an effect like this, try Copic Markers!

Marcea's image (by C.C. Designs) has sparkly wings that look so pretty! For this effect, you can use embossing powder and a heat tool. Might I recommend Holographic (an embossing powder by Ranger) and the Precision Heat Embossing Tool.

Heather used some exquisite lace ribbon on her card. We now have brand new ribbon by Hero Arts - try Lace Ribbon.

Thanks again to the Design Team for their inspiring creativity! Please at least check out the Simon Says Stamp Challenge (and the Simon Says Stamp & Show) if you're having creator's block - there is SO much to see!

***BLOG CANDY ALERT*** This week, one lucky winner will receive Lace Ribbon by Hero Arts as a thank you for following and commenting on this blog!! The winner will be announced next Wednesday!
