Tim Holtz's ROCK CANDY is SWEEEEET!

I wanted to highlight Tim Holtz's newest DISTRESS ROCK CANDY LINE today and give you some information and why this line will ROCK YOUR WORLD!

"Rock Candy" is actually a color name and it comes in two forms...Distress Crackle Paint and Distress Stickles. They are both clear, but have very different results when dry.

The Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint has a very nice porcelain finish with fine cracks. You apply it in the same way you apply the rest of the Distress Crackle Paint Line - in a medium to thick layer (the brush is included attached to the inside of the lid!). The thicker you apply it, the more "crackle" you get in the end.

You can also heat set this product, but it is recommended that you wait until the cracks start to appear on their own.

Some of you may wonder how this is different from the popular Inkssentials Crackle Accents by Ranger. Crackle Accents is a dimensional accent, so when it dries it is "raised up" on your project surface. Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint dries flush to your project surface. Crackle Accents also produces larger cracking than Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint. Both are excellent, it all depends on what kind of finish that you want!

This tag, using the Tim Holtz Mona Collage rubber stamp was made by Tim using the Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint. It really shows the detail of the cracking very well.

You can see the beautiful shine and how the clear crackle brings out the stunning Distress Ink colors from underneath.

Below is the Video by Tim Holtz that wonderfully demonstrates and explains the uses for both Rock Candy Products. He also hints that more Rock Candy is in our future (I don't know about you, but I'm hoping it's embossing powder...).

Just click on the "play" arrow in the bottom left hand part of the box.

The Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Stickles is a clear Distress Stickles that reflects any color that you put it on top of. The finish is a shimmery glass glitter. You apply it a little different than other Stickles. It is best if you squeeze out a "blob" and use the nib of the bottle or your finger to spread it into a thin layer. The Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Stickles, like all other Distress Stickles, can be heat set and it won't alter the finish. You can't do that with regular Stickles, they will blister!

This tag, using the Tim Holtz Heart N Soul rubber stamp was finished with Rock Candy Distress Stickles on top of the heart.

You can see how the effect is a chunky, glass-like, shimmery glitter. It has a very cool vintage appeal that differs from regular glitter glues. It also brighten the red color underneath and really makes it POP!

I guarantee that you will fall in love with both of these products! And just in time for Christmas. I think the Rock Candy Distress Stickles would make an excellent accent on Tim's newest Christmas Rubber Stamp line - Santa's Smile, Blustery, Merry Christmas, Pine and Season's Greetings. Do you prefer unmounted rubber? All these images are also available in the Retro Holiday Unmounted Stamp Set.

****BLOG CANDY ALERT**** Guess what, I want to give TWO (yes, two!) lucky winners One bottle of Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint and One bottle of Rock Candy Distress Stickles (a combo pack for EACH WINNER!!!). Don't you think that would be a great idea? Just become a follower of our blog (if you aren't already) and comment on what project you plan to use your Rock Candy products on first. We want to know what these cool new products have inspired you to create! The random drawing of TWO WINNERS will be done at the end of the week.

  19. Oooh, I've been goggling these ever since CHA :) I have a half done project actually that is waiting for a layer of the crackle paint...
It's a mosaicbox (raised edges on the lid) that I have distressed and put a magnolia image on. I think it will look stunning. I'm quite proud of it although I'm not good at distressing (yet) and I'm way too hard on myself :)
