Whew! What a busy weekend - it certainly left me feeling slightly frazzled! However, I have come to the conclusion that buttons are a very cute way to brighten up any card or scrapbook page. They are great for many reasons including the following:
1) COLOR
2) Texture
3) They can be used to replace objects (for example, red buttons on a tree could look like apples)
4) They can be used simply as buttons (say you are making a scrapbook page about how your child just learned how to button his shirt or you want to have a card that closes via button)
5) They can be used as polka dots
6) They can be used for flower centers
7) They can be used for borders
8) They can be used to secure ribbons, bows, and other objects discreetly
9) They can be used to fill in different shapes (maybe you feel like making a button cloud?)
I highly recommend the line of buttons by Autumn Leaves because they have button bags with SO MANY buttons! Even better, they come in all different sizes so that you have more options of what to do with them! The Whirligig Buttons above make me think of warm weather and fruit, but they really have so many more possibilities!
I am under the impression that the majority of the Autumn Leaves buttons are circular, however, Bo Bunny has a lot of button collections that include gems or buttons of different shapes if that's what you're lookin' for (see right). I really like that these button collections have the different shaped items because I think they enhance creativity. Just from looking at the Grease Monkey collection, I am thinking that the stars could be used for at least the following themes:
1) 4th of July
2) Christmas
3) Birthday
4) Military
Ah, buttons...we would be at such a loss without them : )
