Check...Check...Check These Out!!

Hellooo!! Today is a great day to check out the Simon Says Challenge Blog...wanna know why? I'll give you a hint...check out the outstanding cards made by our awe-inspiring design team!! The one above by Lols uses Death Cap and Red Chef Plaid papers by Magnolia! Very Cute!! Any guesses about what the Challenge theme is? Check out this next card for another clue...(or, if you just can't take the wait, feel free to check out the Challenge Blog itself).
Here we have an attractive card made by Jo! Don't you love the plaid in the corners? I like that she used a punch in the center on the plaid paper under the corrugated black paper. Punches are great for adding extra detail - very eye-catching!!
And now...a beauty by Jane! I love the ribbon she used! Aren't those checks nifty? Ribbon is another way to add that extra touch - so cute on those flowers! I like the "Dream" ticket also...I'm pretty positive that it's from the Adage Tickets book by Tim Holtz. Such a sweet, simple way to add a sentiment without taking up too much room - they could also be used in any collage project :D Check out more tickets if ya want!
This card is so cute! I love how Deb embossed the white background behind Curtsy Tilda. Having varying textures is another way to help catch the eye - and it's pretty simple to do also! Take a peek at these Cuttlebug products - they have some gorgeous embossing folders that definitely help complete projects, if not continue to inspire for the future! Anyone guess the Challenge theme yet? Have you noticed a common theme among these cards?
If not, here's another card! Heather used a lot of really nice pearl embellishments. Prima has a lot of great pearl designs like the one in the bottom right corner. They come on a card already in the flourish pattern, which is nice because there is less guess work in deciding what design to make. I like how the pearls she used are within the color scheme of the card. Basic Grey has some sweet bling gems that come in patterns too - we've even gotten some new ones recently!
Dena did a marvelous job coloring the Tilda with Peony stamp. She matches her surroundings well and she has a pretty flush to her cheeks, too : ) Copic markers are superb for coloring images like this, as are alcohol inks (I recommend the Adirondack inks). This stamp is from the new Magnolia Wedding Collection - there are even more great stamps like this one!
Like the papers Marcea used in her card? I sure do!! They are from the Kioshi collection by Basic Grey. Gorgeous, gorgeous gorgeous papers!! The flower in the corner looks a lot like the Bo Bunny Silk Flowers - also newer to our inventory! And...Marcea said she used Prismacolor colored pencils to help color the image! Doesn't it look stunning?
We are now nearing the end of our Design Team examples for this week's Simon Says Stamp Challenge! I suppose I should let you in on the "secret" of the theme (even though you probably already know!). Ready...it's...CHECKS! This week we asked entrants to design something with checks, plaid, gingham and the like. Domi's card (above) is a beautiful example of how something as simple as checks can look extravagant. : ) Nice use of Flying Tilda!
Chris made this great tag using a stamp from The Greeting Farm. I think their stamps are SO cute! It might be because of their head to body proportions, but either way, I love 'em! Note the checked background, too! See, playing along in the Challenge is easy!
And last, but not least, we have Christine's beautiful mermaid card! I love the glitter she used to accent the mermaid/undersea theme of the card. Like that stamp? It's by C.C. Designs and it's called Treasure Tempestwind, but C.C. Designs makes lots of mermaids!

Feeling inspired by these wonderful cards? I urge you to enter the Simon Says Stamp Challenge!! You can even win a credit voucher to our store!

Have a creative day!
