Today I have a really beautiful project to share with you from Jennifer Matott. Jennifer is on the design team for Faber-Castell's Design Memory Craft blog!
If you're ever feeling overwhelmed with the monotonous routine of wrapping presents, these fun gift boxes could be great for gift cards, jewelry, trinkets, ornament exchanges, cookies and cupcakes, etc! AND it's so fun to create this masterpiece- it will be an extra gift to someone on top of what's inside! Jennifer started with a container box, and sanded it down a little (usually there's a waxy finish and that can hinder the glue or mediums staying permanently).
Next, you apply all types of strips of paper! You could use paper tape, tissue paper, newspaper, maps, sheet music, thin patterned paper- you get the idea! The Textural Accents sampler from Faber-Castell has a good gel you could use. Once your paper application has dried, go color-crazy with Gelatos! Spray them with a mister bottle to get a look that you love- and blast it with a heat gun to speed up the drying time!
Jennifer made these gorgeous flowers using watercolor paper, more Gelatos, Art GRIP Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils, and Bubblewrap stamp with the Stamper's Big Brush Pen in Black. For extra texture, the leaves were cut out of canvas!
Thanks Jennifer for this inspiration!

ReplyDeleteI realize that I'm late in seeing this posat, but I have to comment anyway. I have the good fortune of knowing Jen. She offered a class at our LSS on making this container. It was one of the best classes I've ever taken. So many great techniques & the end creation is fabulous! Thanks for featuring Jen, a very talented lady!
