I
couldn’t possibly do this series for Simon Says Stamp without mentioning the
one and only Tim Holtz. Not only am I a mega fan – but I’m also one of the
newest graduates of Ranger U – and my brain is buzzing with ideas.
While
at Ranger I was able to pick up a set of the new seasonal distress inks, and so
I thought that would be a great place to focus some crafty energy today. First
of all, what I love about Tim Holtz products is that they can be adapted to any
style, any preference, any theme. No other line of products lets me run and
play and create as freely – and I love that!
This
card is not at all what I set out to make – well the truth is I didn’t set out
to make anything in particular! But it does include a lot of my Tim Holtz
favorite supplies:
You
may not really see how all of those supplies came into use – well I will show
you! To really share how I made this card, and how the idea even came about I
filmed my creative exploits and put together a video to share here:
After
all of that wild creative play, I kept things simple to create a second card:
How-to:
1.
Ink damask stamp with seasonal distress (squeezed lemonade) and stamp onto 4 x
5 ¼ piece of glossy cardstock. Immediately cover with clear embossing powder, shake off excess, and heat set.
2.
Blend the remaining ink colors (peacock and lilac) onto the background with
foam blending tool, wipe away any excess off the embossed portion. Then squirt
lightly with water and dry (creating water spots), repeat with gumball perfect pearls mist for additional spots.
3.
Mount onto 4 ¼ x 5 ½ card that has been inked with the shaded lilac distress ink. Stitch around edges.
4.
Place letters onto card and coat with picket fence distress stickles, then
smear picket fence distress stickles all the way around the edge to finish.
I
just adore the look of this card! It really was so simple, and didn’t take long
to make at all. Here are the supplies I used:
One
of the questions I get a lot are what my favorite Tim products are. Well, truth
be told I pretty much love them all! But before I go I will share with you my
current top dozen most used + loved Tim Holtz products that I haven’t already
shown you:
I
will also share that my most used tools? Tim Holtz. I can’t recommend his
scissors, ruler, or mini stapler enough!
If
you want more Tim-spiration you can see more of what I’ve recently
created with Tim’s products. I just recently posted the projects I made for
CHA-winter here.
Congrats to weekend blog candy winners!

ReplyDeleteThese cards looks really awesome. Itoo am a huge fan of all Tim Holst products and just love what I have.
ReplyDeleteHadn't thought of spritzing inks on the mat with Perfect Pearls mist, thanks for the tip I will have to try that one.

Wow, these cards are great.
ReplyDeleteI too just love to play around with Tim Holtz products. Took Chemistry 101 a few months back and was blown away with some products I don't think I would have ever purchased if he hadn't shown us some remarkable ways to get some great clever results. He is the guru.
ReplyDeleteI really like both of your cards. I took Tim's online class & enjoyed every minute of it.
ReplyDeleteYummy, yummy colors! I love all the layers and textures! Thanks for reminding me to play!
ReplyDeleteI love to see his products in use. I watch him for hours on end at the Rubber Stamp Convention. These are great products.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! Thanks for all the info on TH goodies. I don't know where I'd be without distress inks and tools.
ReplyDeleteIncredible! Thanks for the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteI could hear the fun you were having in your voice throughout the entire video. It makes it a joy to watch -- and learn. Loved both cards and learned some good techniques. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteCreative play is extremely fun. I'm glad that you showed people how much fun it can be. Thank you and great job!
