I'm quite excited to get the opportunity to share some lovely cards by Debi Adams! Each card is made using a Sizzix die or embossing folder. Dies and embossing folders are wonderful for a few reasons:
- You can die-cut or emboss just about any paper - patterned, plain, or textured - and it will go with just about everything. You can even die-cut or emboss vellum, some metals, cardboard, and felt!
- Fussy cutting has its name for a reason...it makes you feel fussy! It takes only a few seconds to make a sandwich and run the design and paper through a machine and, voila! You can have a very intricate, detailed design that is perfect!
- Once embossed or die cut, your inking can reach new levels...literally! Ink the embossing folder itself and run it or run it through the machine and ink on the paper!
I never realized, until more recently, how much I really love yellow. Not to sound cliche, but it's so cheery! : ) This card is a real treat. At first glance, I see yellow and white. After a few seconds, my eye registers the exquisite detail put into this card! Debi mixed and matched items like yellow ribbon & ink, white cardstock, and various shapes - flowers, swirls, & circles.
Recommended:
One crafter, Debi Adams, has made all of these cards. One of the things I love about crafting: you can't get bored! The techniques, papers, designs, embellishments, layouts, etc. can all be different! There truly are millions of options.
Some tools for the job:
Monochromatic color schemes are so neat - and they are fairly simple to create. Just pick a color you like and find slight variations in shade! Use white or black to help neutralize : ) I like that it's not boring - the butterflies pop off the page, the grosgrain ribbon and button help add texture, there is variation in ink color and the patterns, and the different layers of paper are great!

The sentiment is just perfect for this card. I look at the baby bird and think, "how sweet!" I really like how Debi used the dots and gingham and the colors. Buttons, ribbon, and stitching always polish the look too!

ReplyDeleteFirst I have to say that I chuckled at the meaning behind "fussy cut"!!!! Yup! I always feel a little cranky after cutting. I keep wondering how those ladies get those edges so perfect that really do the fussy cutting. Mine is awful! So THANKFUL for my Sizzix but sadly I still have to fussy cut and I do get fussy! 2) I have been eyeing that stamp and die set for awhile now!!! 3) Gorgeous projects showcased today!!! And 4)I ran to another town yesterday to take back a band book we didn't need and buy ballet shoes we did need! It's been another busy weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove the yellow card. My weekend went so quickly. Picked up an unusual table bought on eBay. Being winter here in Australia, had all the family over for a roast to celebrate my partners birthday, my sons recent marriage, my grandsons birtthday and to say goodbye to my dear mum who was staying with me. Sadly yesterday (Sunday) took her to the airport. The rest of the weekend was spent crafting. Love your blog!!
