I’m so honored to be sharing a card today featuring some of my favorite new Penny Black stamps. I love the variety of images Penny Black offers; from elegant, to cute, to characters! My newest addiction (besides stamping which is a given; right? ☺) is Pinterest. Today’s card draws inspiration from my fall Pinterest Board), specifically this image.
DIRECTIONS:
To create this card, begin first with the tag. Stamp and mask Penny Black’s 30-138 Foliage Fancy using Tsukineko Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Color the leaves with Faber-Castell Art Grip Color Pencils. Apply a light layer of Mod Podge over the entire tag. When the Mod Podge is dry, color the background with Stamper’s Big Brush Pens, blending with your fingertip as you go. HINT: The layer of Mod Podge makes it super easy to blend the Stamper’s Big Brush Pens. Next, lightly paint Gesso over the background (not the leaves), patting with a papertowel for extra texture and to remove some of the paint. Add touches of white to the leaves using a white Stamper’s Big Brush Pen.
Stamp Penny Black 1999L Letter Background onto the tag using Tsukineko VersaFine Toffee Ink. Before the ink dries, rub the letter background stamping off of the leaves with your fingertip. Apply heat to ensure the stamping is dry and then add a touch of Gathered Twigs Distress Ink around the tag. Ink the card base with Distress Ink (Festive Berries, Dried Marigold, and Fired Brick, and Gathered Twigs) and stamp Penny Black 40-169 Diamond Pattern with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink onto the bottom portion of the card. Finally, add piercing around the top of the card base and adhere the tag on top, mounted with dimensional adhesive. Stamp sentiment was with VersaFine Onyx Black ink onto Spellbinders die (Twisted Metal Tags and Accents) inked with Antique Linen Distress Ink. Finally, adhere a twine bow with Glossy Accents.

I
love to create! My mother and grandmother were always repurposing
garage sale finds or thrift shop treasures which instilled a passion for
creativity at an early age. Over the years that passion has evolved
into exploring the endless possibilities that rubber stamping and
crafting has to offer. I always hope that my work will inspire others
to find the artist within themselves.
Short Bio:
I grew up in northern Michigan and after graduating from college with a degree in business I married my soul mate, Scott. While working full time, I began teaching rubber stamping and paper crafting classes. During that time I realized how much I enjoyed creating something from my heart and sharing that passion with others. In 2006 I was honored by an invitation from Penny Black to join their design team. Since then I have been blessed with many opportunities to travel, teach and, I hope, inspire others to find the artist within themselves.

ReplyDeleteI like creating anytime, especially after the kids are asleep.
ReplyDeleteSpring and fall are good times for me - birthdays, weddings and later Christmas-cards. When it´s too hot in summer, I rather go out and enjoy the weather, but the rest of the year is absolutely crafting time!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all those great ideas - Penny Black sure has wonderful stamps!
I love Penny Black...they really do have so many different styles of stamps! I create for birthdays year-round, but the fall season gets me crafting and it rolls right into holiday and winter! Of course, I collect stamps and embellishments for every season of the year!

ReplyDeleteI think my favorite time to create is Spring and Fall.

ReplyDeleteI love to create in winter, it cold outside and it's a perfect time for me to spend a day inside playing crafts without missing out on a beautiful summer day. Rainy days are also ideal to get creative.
ReplyDeleteOh YAY! I love all things PB. Little Mimi is beyond adorable. :) I love to create in any season, but I especially love making Wintery projects. There's just something about getting warm and snuggly and creating something warm and snuggly in return.

My first stamp is from Penny Black dated long time ago whan I first start stamping. They are such great products. Christmas is my favorite time of year creating Christmas cards for all my freinds.
ReplyDeleteI love Halloween so that is when I papercraft the most. But I use crafting as a tonic, especially as I have severe insomnia to accompany Fibro, so when I get lost in my inks, papers and dies, I can sometimes forget the things that bother me and set about to enjoy a small bit of time before the sun comes up.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of both Jill and Elizabeth's work over at Penny Black. They each have their own unique style--so very inspiring! I like to create cards year round for birthdays, friendships, and thank yous.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is to celebrate midsummer, with dancing and having pickled herring and potatoes for lunch!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this chance!
one penny or two penny, it doesn't matter. good blog. website design bangalore
ReplyDeleteI love creating all year....but it's extra special coming up to christmas....with so many cards and gifts to make.
ReplyDeleteI love all the fresh colors of spring, though I enjoy stamping year round. Love PB stamps, especially the cow stamps. Mandee
ReplyDeleteAlready enjoying the Penny Black Club. As for favorite time of the year - I really have no favorite but find that I do it more in fall, winter and spring. Summer calls me outdoors more often, but there is wonderful inspiration to be found outdoors.
ReplyDeleteSpring time is my favorite because I love, love, love flower stamps...Halloween is next because it's my second favorite holiday!
ReplyDeleteI've learnt so much through both these Penny Black Designers & the projects above are perfect illustrations of how versatile Penny Black images are. I've been a member of the Penny Black Club for quite some time & have benefited hugely from it. I don't really have a favourite time for creating but if anything it would have to be the autumn months when it's warm inside the house & the evenings are drawing in & there's just a lovely cosy sense of homeliness sitting creating in my craft room.
ReplyDeletePaula (PEP)
umm...my favorite time of the year to create, that's a tough one...i really don't think it's about the season...inspiration can come anytime anywhere!! =)

ReplyDeleteWay wonderful projects!!! Great tutorials always from Jill and Elizabeth!! Had to come over and say "HI" and love to create for the Christmas season by sending atleast 50 homemade cards each year!! Postage gets high but it is worth sending pieces of art to all my seasoned friends and family!! Love that! Thanks for having such wonderful images! Love the different styles and that I can change it up each year!

ReplyDeleteChristmas hands down!! Love that time of year and the festive mood makes me feel creative! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm already in the penny black club
ReplyDeleteI like crafting in the winter time ---it's too cold to enjoy the outdoors
My favorite time of year to create is Autumn. I make my holiday cards and I also create birthday/anniversary/thank you cards to fill my card box for the coming year.
ReplyDeleteGreat projects! I love Penny Black and I'm a club member. I like to create for birthdays (everyone has one! LOL) and for Christmas. ;-)
ReplyDeleteNow that the weather is cooling, I'm definitely getting more into creating again. I'll make some fall/Halloween and LOTS of Christmas items.
ReplyDeleteThese projects from Jill and Elizabeth are great! I love both of these talented gals and am already a PB club member. Christmas is my favorite time of year to make cards and such!
ReplyDeleteI think I like spring and fall best - each bring something different to your soul - living in a cold climate (Wisonsin) spring brings the thought you survived another winter but the promise of warmth, sunshine, flowers, a different smell in the air. Fall - after summer -brings relief from the heat - but the crispness adds a bounce to your step, you feel like cooking again, raking leaves with the neighbor kids - and it also has a special smell. Thanks Penny Black for the fun creations.
ReplyDeleteBarb Housner
I love to create in the fall and winter - it feels so cozy in my studio and I love all the Christmas papers and stamps! Thanks for the chance to win!

ReplyDeleteI like creating in winter. It is cold outside and I like to cozy up inside and create. Love Penny Black stamps! They are so cute! thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteBesides My Birthday...I would say Christmas. I'm a Giver and I love Giving to People and of My Time to put a smile on someone's face or just a Random Act of Kindness (those are the best feelings). Smooches...
ReplyDeleteBirthdays are my favorite, and Christmas. Thanks for a chance to win some great Penny Black Stamps!
ReplyDeleteChristmas is my favorite Holiday to create things for. Cards, of course, are at the top of that list. Then I make gift boxes and small goodies for my granddaughters. But I'm always making something!! Thank Jill & Elizabeth for offering up some beautiful projects today. PB is one of my favorite stamps to use!!!
ReplyDeleteI love to create year round. I try to enter my craft room on a daily basis. It may take a while to finish a project but I love to be in my room, it is my paradise. Happy crafting!
ReplyDeleteI create cards throughout the year and enjoy making every single card but my favorite is holiday card and I started making them from September! My favorite time of the year has just began! Super fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI create all the time. I spend time everyday, when possible, at my craft desk. I am most productive in the last 3 months of the year. That is when most of our family birthdays and the holidays occur.

ReplyDeleteI craft all year long but my favorite time to create is in the summer when I have extra time! TFS!
ReplyDeleteFavorite time to make cards is when ever I can send a thank you card
ReplyDeletePenny Black has some of the greatest images so really excited to enter. My fav. time to make cards is Christmas but I also love to do it all year round for teacher gifts/bdays etc.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is one of my favorite times to create. My cards are a little bit more fancy, have a little bit more bling and glitter.
ReplyDeletePenny black has some fabulous designs! I tend to go more for the traditonal than the cute, but that's just my style. I love seeing Jill and Elizabeth's cards and projects and am so impressed with their talent! I make cards all year long and am working on my Christmas cards, NOW! I love to make them individually instead of all the same and I start early so I can enjoy the process without being rushed! I love the inspiration I find on this blog and the Penny Black blog!
ReplyDeleteLove to create all year long..especially during festive seasons:)..thanks for the chance to win!

Thanks for the chance to win, and keep stamping!

ReplyDeleteChristina P.
How wonderful that you are featuring Penny Black. I love Penny Blacks great selection of images.
ReplyDeleteEvery time of the year is a great time to stamp, but I think when the days start to get shorter, and the weather takes a cold turn it feels so great to grab a warm drink and head to my cozy craft room to get creative.
I joined the Penny Black Club. I guess fall is one of my fave times of the year to craft...then winter. Oh boy, Christmas card time soon!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous work by Jill & Elizabeth who always inspire me! So great to have the directions for how they made these projects. I began stamping about 15 years ago so that I could make Christmas cards & to this day it's my favorite reason to make cards/projects. Penny Black was one of the first companies I was introduced to & I still have all my original Penny Black stamps. Of course now I have so many they have their own storage area & my wishlist is still huge! Thanks for featuring them today. Have to use that coupon now!
ReplyDeleteAll these projects are so inspiring !!! I have to say colder days are great to get cozy and start working on all those paper crafting projects but any time of year works for me. I just have to follow the creative flow! :)
ReplyDeleteI like to craft all year, but my favorite time is in fall/winter.
ReplyDeleteLove these projects. Both are very inspiring! TFS!
ReplyDeleteI love to craft some type of project all year. I love to make my own cards so I am always in my craft room making something up.
ReplyDeleteI love to create all through the year,
ReplyDeleteespecially when it's making a special something for someone just to say "I was thinking of you"
I also love to create all year but have a special place in my heart for Christmas, and PB stamps are just perfect for that. I love to know that everything I make will be given to someone, not stored away. That makes me very happy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win. PB has become some of my favorite stamps - I think the latest artwok and my taste are finally colliding! Favorite time to create is definitely fall. I am a fan of the Thanksgiving card!
ReplyDeleteOh my favorite time to create is definitely Christmas. Silly santas, cute snowmen, red and green pattern paper, pull out all my sparkles and glitter!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy creating anytime of the year.
ReplyDeleteany QUIET TIME in my lttle cottage is my favorite time to create...Most nights after 1 am:)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time to create is most definitely Christmas, but really if I have the time, I'll sit and make a card or two whenever the urge hits. So far, there is always a purpose for more cardmaking. I would to be able to get ahead of the game and have the time to create a card stash that I could go to when I need a card.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time is fall. Leaves falling, football starting and cooler temps make it the best time of the year. I love all the fall papers and colors. I seem to get inspired more this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI love to create year-round; I participate in a lot of swaps, so I always have cards and things to work on. Christmas is always fun, too, as I tend to collect so many holiday themed stamps over the year, so it's nice when I finally get to break them out and use them!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the winter because we can,t go out, then you can spend more time with your papers!!
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite time of year to create is probably fall. I love the fall color palette, and while obviously one can use it at any time, it feels more appropriate to use it in the fall.
ReplyDeleteI love Penny Black stamps and the wonderful work of the design team! I have to say that one of the things that I love most about this hobby is that I enjoy creating all year long. I really love to surprise friends and families with a card or homemade gift for
ReplyDeletebirthdays or just because.
Favorite time of the year to be creative... obviously Christmas time is a great season for lots of creativity, but I also enjoy the summer. It's hot out so much more fun to stay inside and create away.
ReplyDeleteI've been enjoying the Penny Black Club for quite awhile. I love PB! Although I create year round, my favorite time is from now til Christmas. So many exciting things to make for Halloween, fall, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteAm already of PB's Mailing list, as am subscribed to both Elizabeth and Jill's blogs. Love both of them. Love the PB&Js Jill is such a wonderful teacher and UBER-talented!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for featuring these neat ladies.
Well, I guess that I should share my guilty secret. I make cards just about every day. Ekk. I know it does sound crazy. I just love it. So, every day is my favorite time of year. I do like Valentines Day though. I make cards for kids that are sent to St Judes Hospital. That's really fun.
ReplyDeleteJill, you always create such amazing cards. Your colors are so bright and vivid, and the techniques you use are incredible. I absolutely love what you did with the leaf stamp!
ReplyDeleteI just recently discovered Penny Black and love their stamps
ReplyDeleteSuch an eye-catching, lovely leaf card and love the darling birdhouses as well!
ReplyDeleteI love Penny Black stamps and I love the wonderful work of the design team! One of the things that I love most about this hobby is that I enjoy creating all year long.
ReplyDeleteI like to create anytime of year but probably do more in the fall before the holidays begin.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, such vibrant colors. I love creating cards anytime. It's peaceful and relaxing, and easily gives one a sense of accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous inspiration - thanks for sharing! I have just signed up and am looking forward to receiving even more great project ideas from Penny Black. I love creating all year long, but I especially get into it in the late fall up until Christmas. I love making holiday decorations and gifts, in addition to cards.
ReplyDeleteI have really been enjoying all the projects and videos on the blog this Stamptember. Thank you so much!
Hugs, Dawn
I'm so glad I joined the Penny Black Club recently. Love getting all the news and more. My favorite time of year to make cards is now through Christmas. I love making fall cards but can't leave beautiful Christmas cards out of my favorites either.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day today! Love both of these talented ladies! Jill's, inking and shading ability always amazes me and Elizabeth has the BEST ideas! Beautiful work from them both!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time of year to stamp is in the spring when I can finally pull out my flower stamps and color them after a long, cold, snowy winter! :)
My favourite time of year to create? Every day, really, since "create" doesn't necessarily mean "craft." I like paper crafting on cold, sunny days where I can see what I'm doing, and I don't feel too guilty about not being outside.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
Fabulous creations! Love Penny Black's sweet little images. My favorite time of year to create is right now with Halloween coming up and trying to get an early start on Christmas. :)
ReplyDeleteFavorite time of year to stamp in probably in the winter when farm/yard/garden work is done and I can take the time just to sit and do what I want and not feel guilty.
ReplyDeleteI love Penny Black! Of course I'll sign up!
ReplyDeleteI am always inspired by Elizabeth and Jill. They are so talented, and sharing! Love the boxes and the card they made for this event. I stamp all year, but get most cards made during the Winter month.
ReplyDeleteI have been signed up with PB and Jill Foster for a while. Jill is a Genius with paper and ink! So Happy to see her work here. Fall Stamping is my favorite. Husband goes hunting so i have hours and hours of time in my craft room. I love the Colors of Fall in this the Greatest Country of All.
ReplyDeleteI love the work of these two!! And they are sharing great works today as well. As far as my favorite time of year to create, probably summer because I feel more relaxed at that time of the year, more free. But I create sporadically all year round. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteKatie B.
both jill and elizabeth are amazing artist!! their projects are fantastic!! (i'm a pb club member.)
ReplyDeleteI Love Penny Black. I just signed up and I'm glad I did.

A favorite time to craft? ALL the time! :) I enjoy making cards for all occasions, birthday, get well, sympathy, thinking of you, baby, wedding, whatever is needed. Well, I guess the winter is the most comfortable, I can wear my sweats!
ReplyDeleteI'd craft all the time if I could! But in the evening just before it's time to go to bed is good for me, quiet time.

I don't have a favorite time for crafting. Any time of the day or the year is good for me ;).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful projects! My favourite time of the year to craft ... well I love to craft all year round but I do enjoy making christmas cards and tags! xxx
ReplyDeleteI love to create in the fall with Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner....
ReplyDeleteI do not have any favorite time of year to create cards. I usually create cards when there are occasions! :)
ReplyDeleteI love PB products too! They were the first company I fell in love with and still my favourite. Thanks for having them over celebrating stamptember :)
ReplyDeletePs. My favourite time to create is summer, because its free time, other times are filled with specific holidays.
ReplyDeleteI love to create in the fall through Valentines day
ReplyDeleteIn the Midwest, our winters can get nasty. That's my favorite time to hunker down in my studio and create.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I like the 'PB & J' title. Very clever.

I LOVE to create in the FALL and WINTER!! One because of the holidays and two because the weather keeps me inside and it gives me time to create!! LOVED all of the projects shared and I'd LOVE to win!! THANKS for sharing and for the chance to win!! Have a FABULOUS WEEKEND!! =)
ReplyDeleteTerrific projects -- love Penny Black! I definitely like to create during and for the Christmas season, there's so much inspiration.

ReplyDeleteI love making cards first thing Monday morning, Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. It's the best way to start my week. The Penny Black stamps have always caught my eye with the adorable animals. And there are stamps to fit any season. No need to have a favorite.
ReplyDeleteMy fav time of year to create is when it gets really cold outside!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite time would be christmas because each year i sent out many handmake cards to family and friends
