Kelly Purkey STAMPtember™ 2012 Day 7 - A Glimpse Into Her Project Life

Please join me in welcoming Kelly Purkey to our STAMPtember™ celebrations!  Kelly is a beautifully talented and avid scrapbooker, blogger, and designer.

Documenting her life while living in New York City, she doesn't follow trends, she sets them!  In fact, several of our Simon Says Stamptember stamps have been designed by Kelly.  Below, she shows us some fabulous examples how scrapbookers effectively incorporate stamps into their projects.

A word from Kelly:

Getting caught up on my Project Life album (I have only, oh say, twenty or so weeks to go back and catch up on!) can be challenging but putting together a single spread for week Thirty-Four was a lot of fun.  I wanted to really play and incorporate some of my new Kelly Purkey stamps, so I pulled out lots of ink pads and got to work.  I started by sketching out what would fit in which pocket, then printed the photos and the journaling bits.  I used the stamps on both patterned paper and the photos.

I like the Ranger archival inks and StazOn because they allow you to stamp directly on photos without smearing.

To create some fun embellishments, I stamped on washi tape, cardstock, and even created a double layer skyline using the cute Paper Smooches buildings with a mask.  I hope this inspires you a bit to add some fun little Kelly Purkey designs into your next Project Life week!

You can find Kelly Purkey stamps at Simon Says Stamp!  Be sure to check out her blog (she just might have a fantabulous coupon code for you to use at Simon on the stamps she designed) WAHOOO!  Thanks Kelly!

AND...we have a prize pack for you!  Comment below to let us know if you've used stamps to document a journal or scrapbook.  We'd love to hear!  We will randomly select a lucky winner for a $25 Simon Says Stamp Shopping Spree!

  1. I'm not a regular scrapbooker but am putting together a mini-album for my sister's birthday in a couple of weeks. I'm using stamps on most of the pages -- some are just nice sentiments, some are numbers to count down the years, some are just flowers or little tiny stamps. It's been a fun project and has greatly increased my already tremendous respect for people who do this regularly.

  9. I mostly incorporate sentiment stamps into my scrapbooking. I'm afraid to use anything that needs to be colored because of the alcohol ink.

  10. Stamps are too much fun and can be used so many different ways with so many different mediums. I scrap book for special celebrations like 50th, 40th etc, but still have fun using stamps for lots of card making.

  11. I use stamps all the time, but mostly sentiment stamps to be honest. I´m not so good at coloring, so I often end up with those, that doesn´t need it, but I loves all kinds of stamps and I keep practising, so hopefully one day I´ll be good enough to show that of too ha ha ha.
It has been an awesome week here on Stamptember and I look forward to see, what you have to show here next week too.

  18. I like how Kelly stamped directly on photos. I didn't try it yet but I will. I use alphabet stamp sets a lot for titles on my scrapbook pages and cards.

  19. I love stamps, especially when they are so versatile. I don't do much scrapbooking, although I do make memory books for special gifts. My love leans more toward card-making and mixed media projects and I can sure go wild with stamps there! Thanks for a chance to win some of Kelly's stamps!

  20. I definitely use stamps in my scrapbooking - most often in my own easy version of Project Life - must faster for me than the official way. I just cut lots of cardstock 4 x 6 cards, decorate them with stamps and patterned paper, and just grab them as the month goes along to document things that happen. Then I slide them into a photo box. Once the related photos have been developed, I just slide them into the photo box behind the applicable card. The stamps really help make the cards look great. Thanks for all the great things going on this month - and for bringing KP to us at a discount!! Love it all!!

  21. I stamp in my scrapbooks, mostly to add a layer of texture. I haven't started an art journal yet. Hmmmm, maybe I need to add that to my list. . .

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm not a scrapper, so I haven't ever used stamps to document a journal or scrapbook, but I can see how these stamps could easily be used that way. I might just have to start. Thanks for the inspiration.

  23. Great layouts. I struggle with incorporating stamping into my layouts. I want to, but I have to be really intentional about it because I scrapped for so long before I started stamping, that it's not part of my normal process to go and pull stamps, then when I'm almost done with a layout and think about it, I'm too lazy to make changes.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I LOVE to use stamps on LO's they can add so much and they are fabulous for making your own embellishments! Thanks so much, love her new stamp sets!

  26. I am trying SO hard to just got for it and use more stamps in my art journal. But I have a nice collection of stamps that I really lovingly chose so I want to use them

  59. I'm more a card maker than a scrapbooker, though I would love to do more scrapbooking. Anyway, I have made one scrapbook. It was for my father-in-law and it was basically a heritage scrapbook...telling the story of his life from the time he met my mother-in-law all through the years of their children growing up and his wife getting sick and passing and his move to Arizona. Throughout the scrapbook, I used stamps to tell the story. In fact, I preferred the use of stamps as to handwritten journaling.
