Welcome to the Operation Write Home Blog Hop! You might have arrived from Jennifer McGuire's blog. For the start of the hop, please be sure to go HERE.
Operation Write Home® (OWH) supports our nation's armed forces by sending blank handmade greeting cards to write home on, as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them.
Simon's co-founder, Jason, and also our teammate, Nick, are Army Veterans. We salute these men and all of those men and women who serve or have served in our Armed Forces!
Did you know that Hero Arts donates 25% of profits from these clear sets to Operation Write Home?
My dear friend Kathy Racoosin from www.TheDailyMarker.blogspot.com created this card below in honor of today's event and our heroes. Thank you Kathy! (Be sure to check out Kathy's Blog! It's soooo worth the visit!)
First she die cut stars and Squares using the Stars Border die and the Tri Square dies. Can you see how she used the woodgrain textured paper as the base?
First she die cut stars and Squares using the Stars Border die and the Tri Square dies. Can you see how she used the woodgrain textured paper as the base?
Then Kathy added color to the white 120# cardstock using her B16 and her R29 Copic Markers.
Then she colored in the Eagle from Paper Smooches "Circle of Honor" stamp set.
I love how she used the House Die from our Simon Says Stamp "Where the Heart Is" set combined with the stamps from our new "Fit to Be Square" set.
Don't you love Kathy's beautiful completed card!?
Supplies:
I have been playing (working ;) with the brand new Tim Holtz Distress Metallic paints and loving Tim's new Idea-ology Rub ons! I can't even begin to tell you how much fun it was for me to make the below card honoring our Heroes! I am a little nervous to post my personal work on the blog because I am hyper self conscious of my own art, BUT I have a lot of fun creating and needed to share the really really COOLNESS of these products with you! AWESOME! Trust me, the photo doesn't even do justice to how METALLIC these paints actually look!
Supplies on the Distress Card:
For the next stop on the hop, be sure to visit Sparkle Creations. We can't wait to see what they have created!
**Bonus! Comment below and tell us if you have any friends or family serving in the military. Monday we will choose a lucky winner for a $50 Simon Says Stamp Gift Card.

yes, my brother and my brother in law served in the army. i am so proud of both.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that's adorable. I have the eagle stamp, so now I know just how to color him. Thanks! While I don't currently have any family in the military, my grandfather and his five brothers served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, and my cousin and his wife served in Iraq and Afghanistan, so I do have a family history of service and greatly appreciate the sacrifices the members of our military make on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteMyself, sister and brother all served in the Navy. I am a nurse and just this past week I took care of a couple who's husband was in the Army currently serving in Afghanastan. They skyped the whole labor and delivery while he watched from his barracks. Such a wonderful couple and such a joy to bring some good for them while he is away.

For the past 2 years we have been fortunate enough to receive a visit from them in a Black Hawk. Imagine my surprise last year when one of my best friend's sons, who is a former graduate from our schools, flew the copter in. I've known him since he was 2 years old. It is always an honor to do whatever we can for these men and women. Thanks for supporting OWH!

ReplyDeleteLove your eagle and the windows with the stars is a neat layout!
ReplyDeleteBoth of these cards are so cool! Several members of my family, uncles and cousins, have served in the military.
ReplyDeleteWhat great cards! I don't have anyone serving in the military right now, but my son-in-law was in the Army and served two tours in Iraq. I'm glad to support OWH!
ReplyDeleteFantastic projects! Fortunately I don't have any friends or family (that I know of) serving right now, but I'm grateful for every one that does!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome cards! I have some friends that are serving in the military.
ReplyDeleteI need the dies in the card! The eagle card is so much fun! I served in the Navy for 18 years; my son was in the Army, I have another son waiting to go to bootcamp; sister was in the Army, 2 brothers in the Navy, cousins are Marines! We've got them all covered but the Air Force and Coast Guard.
ReplyDeleteMy father and husband are both Vietnam Vets. I have no other family serving at this time. A big thank you to OWH for everything you do.
