Ok, it is after midnight in Ohio and I am WIDE AWAKE cuz I just finished putting these into the store. It has me SO INSPIRED to start my holiday cards! What are you doing on your cards this year? Stamping 'Til The Cows Come Home

It's harvesting time here in Ohio and the tractors are working long into the night harvesting the corn fields. My kids LOVE seeing the tractors so they are pretty excited when we are driving down the road these days.

This time of the year makes me think of playing around on my grandfather's farm when I was little. My favorite was when he let me sit on his lap and drive the combine. I thought I was pretty cool. What can I say, I'm a country girl at heart. Just ask the girls in the office, since I make them listen to country music!

He also had cows, pigs and chickens. I just loved being around all the animals. I found some great cards courtesy of the Inky Antics website that feature some of their fabulous farm

animal stamps. I thought it would be an appropriate time to share them with you!

The first is a card, to the right, was designed by Lana Lepinski. I love the earthy color combination of this one and I really like how she tore the green paper framing the image at the bottom.

The stamps she used are Cornstalk, Cow, and Cow Are You? Doesn't that cow just look too cute for words?!?

The Inky Antics farming line of stamps are great for coloring! Use your Watercolor Pencils and Aqua Flo Brushes or your Copic Markers and make these happy little creatures come to life!

The next card, below, was designed by Bev Gerard. I like how she used the pinks and browns to make this a girly card. I also really like the layering. I am a big fan of layering - my cards tend to be thicker than they are tall (ha ha ha).

The stamps she used in this card are Duck and What's Up, Duck?. He looks like a friendly little guy, doesn't he....

It's Heidi here, hijacking Terra's post. Can I just say that Ohio really is the heart of it all? Seeing the farmers growing crops for our families is a real blessing. If you haven't been to a working farm lately, I would highly recommend it! Our friends have their own "little farm" with several chickens, sheep, and sometimes pigs & cows too. They give us eggs, and they are the best eggs I have ever tasted! Ohio is full of family owned farms - many organic. It is one of our son's favorite things to do - see the farms. I am finally old enough to REALLY appreciate what I have grown up in the middle of all of my life. Thanks Terra for mentioning it!!

Something Girly To Share

As you all may know from Katie's post, we just had our year end meeting. We were all assigned certain brands and had to use those brands in a presentation and crafting project. I decided to make a girly photo frame to keep on my desk at work. I am still a beginner when it comes to stamping and crafting but I am learning as I go!!! Although I don't have the creative talent like most of you out there, I definitely ENJOY stamping!!!

My brands assigned to me were Prima Pebbles, Robin's Nest Dew Drops, Inkadinkado Clear Stamps and Memento Ink. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Prima pebbles and I was so excited to use them for my frame. They look great in the center of a flower and the FLIRTY set is my absolute FAV!! I used the Inkadinkado Clear stamp set Animal Skins for the leopard print background and the Zebra print on the white Prima flowers. To finish it up and add a little "bling" I added Hero Arts 5 mm pearls, Silver Liquid Pearls, Hero Arts Lavender gemstones and Robins Nest Paris dew drops around the frame and in the word Love.

The 4 C's: Creative & Colorful Christmas Cards!

One of the many GREAT things about my job is having the opportunity to use Simon Says Stamp's fantastic products!! Last Friday at Simon Says Stamp we had our year end meeting in which we all presented our own projects made with products you can find in our store! My project included Core'Dinations paper, Penny Black stamps, Tim Holtz Distress Stickles, and Prima flowers.

We all found out just how FUN the Core'Dinations paper is to work with! It is just like card stock, only it has a colored interior color that coordinates (hence the fun name!!) with the outer color. You can expose it by sanding, tearing, and embossing the paper. We used Jenni Bowlin's Collection and had so much fun experimenting with it! There are MANY paper colors and design selections in each Core'Dinations collection Simon Says Stamp offers. Check out other Jenni Bowlin products HERE!

The primary stamp I used on my card was Penny Black's Nature's Dance. Nature's Dance is a charming stamp that can be used at all times of year. Just do what we did and decorate the tree buds with various Stickles colors to change the theme! We used Tim Holt's Distress Stickles in Antique Linen, Shabby Shutters, and Fired Brick to incorporate a sparkly, Christmas theme! I also chose to use an ornament stamp from Penny Black's clear Christmas Treasures set. Inks used were Stazon's Jet Black and Dew Drops' Brilliance in Galaxy Gold.

Prima's Wild Wood Mushroom embellishments are what I chose to give the card some definition. When glued on with Ranger's Glossy Accents (which is officially my FAVORITE GLUE EVER), it will stick to paper in a matter of seconds - it stays put and dries clear!

Tim Holtz Style Autumn Tag by Clare!

Don't you love this autumn tag? I am making LOTS of tags this year for Christmas cards and gifts! Clare has inspired me and I hope can inspire you with her work too!

Here's what Clare used to make this tag:-

Basic white cardstock cut to a tag shape.
Tim Holtz Distress Inks to create the background - Shabby Shutters, Aged Mahogany & Peeled Paint
Leaf punch - to make a stencil
Brilliance inks for leaves - Cosmic Copper and Pearlescent Olive, I also inked the edges of the tag with Cosmic Copper

Foliage - Inkadinkadoo stamp (stamped with black Stazon)

Pear - Stampin' Up "Ageless Adornment" set, coloured with Distress Inks (colours listed above) and heat embossed using Versamark and clear embossing powder

Oh, I love this time of year!!

Happy Birthday Steph!

Happy birthday Steph! She is one of our Simon Says Stamp home office girls! Steph is tremendously important "behind the scenes". It's a shame you all don't get to meet her face to face, because she has a brilliant personality and a sparkling smile!

Seriously folks.... I never in my life met a funnier person - man, woman or child! She throws in funny little quips throughout the day, and I don't know how she comes up with them so quickly. I've always wanted to be funny (I'm NOT!) She is a huge Ohio State buckeyes fan and has been to THREE games this year....that's a lot cuz tickets here are impossible to get, but Steph is an ALUM, so she has connections ;)

Stephanie is from Columbus, Ohio and started working full time with Simon late last Spring. We are really lucky to have her, because BOY DO WE NEED HER! Managing brands like Copic and Cuttlebug keeps her pretty busy around here. She also helps manage our design team, blog candies, shipping, our records, and makes our office and warehouse a much nicer place to work! We love and appreciate Steph more than words can say....thanks for all you do Stephanie!

Have a wonderful birthday Steph! You pick lunch tomorrow! I am buying!
