May 2012 Card Kit Always a Friend Card

Morning, all! Kristina here with another card and video. :)

For this video I wanted to use the May 2012 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. You get a TON of supplies with this kit, and this just one card that I made with it.

I love creating cards with repeating elements (in this case, punched hearts) because it's an easy way to make an impact with small pieces of patterned paper. And when you have lot of sheets of patterned paper from one collection, like in a 6x6 pad, it's fun to combine all those patterns in a creative way.

EK Success 2-in-1 & Layering Punches

Hi all! Checking in from CHA. :)

EK Success gave us a quick demo on their 2-in-1 edge punches. We have a few in the store now and they're awesome! I love that you can use them layered, or as separate punches shapes. The same mechanism is used on the layering punches which cut out 3 shapes, too! :)

A Spooky Martha Stewart Inspiration!

Happy Sunday everyone!
As we near September, I'm getting more and more excited for the spooky and creative Halloween themes that will come around! This card, made with tons of great Martha Stewart products- is perfect for invitations to Halloween parties, a thank you note, or a fun 'hello'!

The Easy How-To Steps!
1. Trim a piece of black cardstock to 12-by-5 inches. Punch the corners using the Spiderweb Corner Punch. With the Spider Web Edge Punch, connect the pattern from corner to corner using the guides on the tool's wings.

2. For the accordion part of the card, use a ruler and bone folder to score and fold the cardstock in half, and then score and fold the two ends back so the spider web border extends 1/2 inch beyond the center fold. Cut a piece of white cardstock to fit the front of the card (Martha's All Purpose Scissors work great for projects like this!), and adhere. Mat a smaller piece of patterned paper on the white. If you don't want to use white cardstock, Martha Stewart has a fun Classic Halloween Mat Pad or the Elegant Witch Mat Pad full of festive designs!

3. Trim a piece of patterned paper (like the ones above!) to fit the third panel of the card, and adhere. Print out a Halloween message from your computer onto a piece of white cardstock, trim down, and adhere to the patterned paper. On top of your favorite patterned paper of your choice, you could add some bling and pizzazz with some of Martha Stewart's Halloween Glitter & Glue Sets! This set is my favorite, it's the Iridescent Halloween Glitter and Glue- I love how bright the colors are!

4. Punch a spider shape out of black cardstock and adhere to the front of the card with an adhesive foam dot. EK Success has great Foam Dot Adhesives, and so does a line called Best Creation with their 3D Foam Tape!

How scary is that spider?! Even looking at it now I get spooked! It's the perfect element to every Halloween project!

5. Final Step! Thread a ribbon through the holes in the spider web border near the center of the vertical edges of the front and last panels of the accordion. Tie loosely to close. To get a ribbon look like the inspiration picture, I suggest the Modern Festive Duet Ribbons from Martha Stewart. You'll get a mix of red, yellow, and blue (which I'm noticing as an accent in a lot of Halloween projects this year!).

6. (This is a personal last LAST step!) I think it would be AWESOME to add in the Martha Stewart Glow in the Dark Glitter! Maybe to highlight the spider? Or add some special sparkle to the sentiment? After you use it on the card, go ahead and throw some on a costume or prop for a party! I think it really brings this pumpkin's spirit to life!

And there you go! You have yourself a decked-out Halloween card, and plenty of glow in the dark glitter to go decorating-crazy!
