Pencil Stamping!

Hi readers! Happy Friday! Wow, the weeks really are flying by aren't they? It seems like just yesterday we were all complaining about how hot it was outside.. but now we have ourselves an Ohio winter!

First- the winner from the "You Are My Happy" blog post is: Bunnyfreak! Please email Fran@SimonSaysStamp.com with your shipping information and the title from your blog you won! Congrats!

Today I have a really cute little stamping style to share with you!
Pencil Stamping! I found this image of examples from Pinterest (do you have a Pinterest account?! We think it's a MUST for inspiration and sharing of ideas! Request an invite or have someone who has a Pinterest account already send you one!)
I love the whimsical circle appearance! After some more research on Pencil Stamping,  I found some other great examples too!

The website Babble had an article from Liz Stan about doing these Pencil Stamping activities with your kids! It's a great way to get them into colors and the idea of stamping- without giving them your precious stamps you use for your projects! (Plus, one thing I remember from being a kid, is I loved taking something used for one specific thing.. and using it for something completely different! Imagination is King!)

What a great idea this is! Create your own button stamps- or any other type of shape for that matter! Just use an adhesive, glue a button or other shape to the bottom of a pencil, and stamp the image! Jenny Doh does a great little tutorial on her blog, check it out here!

And for those of us who know exactly what type of pencil stamp we'd like to make- there's Barbara Ann to explain! Check out how rustic and adorable these eraser designs are!

I hope this sparked some creativity and imaginative ideas for you! Even the smallest or simplest items around your house can be used for designing, stamping, paper-crafting, etc!

Supplies to use with your pencils:

BLOG CANDY ALERT! To win this blog candy, be sure to join our following and comment on this post to tell us something you loved or reminisce about from your childhood!  The winner will be announced on Monday, good luck!

Thanks for reading! Enjoy your weekend!

  3. What a great reminder...we used to use pencils to stamp in grade school!
My favorite memory is finally getting to use "big girl scissors". I had some sort of project for school and my kiddie scissors just would not cut it out. I remember my mother telling me I could use her precious embroidery scissors...and watching me like a hawk while I used them. Your post brought back a lovely memory...thank you.

  4. What a great idea for my 4 year old. I always remember making Christmas ornaments at school in elementary school. It was so fun. In particular, I remember make a pretzel wreath ornament with the most beautiful red satin ribbon woven through it.

I remember being envious of some girls in first grade, they had this big box with 50 coloring pencils. I got one on my 37th birthday and it made me really happy.

  7. Brilliant idea - & fun for the little ones. What I keep remembering from childhood is my love of colours & my prized possession was a box of 72 Derwent Pencils from the factory. I had so much fun studying the colour chart & was amused for hours with those.

  8. What a fun technique, and it´s even one, we can all do, as long as we just have a pencil and some ink, and I don´t think anyone who read this don´t have these things available he he. Thanks a lot for sharing this and have a wonderful week-end everyone.

  16. Wow what a wonderful idea. Love those colors. As a kid I adored day camp. We went everywhere and had so much fun. I'd met up with my summer friends and make new ones. Words don't describe how much I loved it.

  17. What a neat idea. I have heard about stamping with objects such as a pencil eraser but you elaborated about it in such a unique way. Childhood, I used to go to day camp during the summers and one of the activities to opt out of playing games or going canoeing was arts and crafts. I love my time spent making things there when I was young. Anyway, Thank you for sharing.

  34. That is such a great idea! Best memory for me was my nan's "rainy day" drawer in the kitchen which was filled with fun things to do on a rainy day. I can still remember the amazement if cutting the wool to reveal my first pom Pom made from some wool and two cardboard circles!

  35. Very cool idea--I think I did this with my kids when they were little.

  36. Love the pencil bit... may use that this weekend! When I was little, like 4 or 5, my mom used to have a box of pastels which I was not allowed to take out of the box or use, but I would sneak into her room and open up the box to oooh and aaahh over all the pretty colors. I did the same thing with her jewelry box because she had the prettiest, colorful, long button necklace a friend made for her. =)

  46. One of my favorite memories was getting our school supplies several days before school started. I (and my 6 siblings) would pack and repack them, enjoying the smells of the new crayons, erasers, pencils, paper, etc. We didn't get an allowance, so this (along with new shoes for Easter and the first day of school) was a big thing for all of us kids. I'd love to try this product. Thanks for letting us play along.

  47. I have made stamps from erasers some years ago - it works well :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Love the simplicity of these projects. I use wine corks for button stamps, they're so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  49. The last photo of cutting the pencil erasers into shapes remind me of my primary art session whereby we use potatoes or carrots to cut those shapes! We also use lady fingers and banana branch for its original design.

  50. The stampsed pencil eraser dots remind me of the little dots of candy that used to come on white strips of paper that we ate during our childhood. Anyone remember those?

  54. I often think about how I used to ride around the neighborhood on my bike. I would carry a radio in my basket and sing along as I pedaled around. Fun, fun, fun. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  55. What a seriously fun technique! Now if I can only get to the pencils before my kids destroy the erasers...

    ReplyDelete
  56. I can't remember what it's called, but I used to love making (weaving) pot holders with these stretchy fabric bancs (almost like big hair bands).
