Ali Edwards STAMPtember™ Project

Please join us in welcoming Ali Edwards to our STAMPtember™ feature!  We are thrilled that Ali created a project for STAMPtember™ incorporating stamps from her line into a scrapbook layout.  Stamps are versatile tools and allow us to express our creativity when preserving memories and photographs.   Her unique style encourages us to tell the stories of our lives.  Personally I find Ali's philosophies and approaches not only inspiring, but also motivating and uplifting.  She is applauded in the scrapbooking industry for good reason.

From AliEdwards.com:  Ali’s passion resides in that very special place where the stories and images of life intersect.  Designer, blogger, author, and mother of two, Ali is well known for capturing everyday life with photos and words and creating scrapbooks from those moments that often pass by in an instant.

“I started scrapbooking in 2002 as a way to organize all the stuff I collected after the birth of my son. It has become so much more than an organizational process for me. Through the techniques of photography and personal storytelling I have discovered my voice. My hope is that by sharing the stories of my life and the methods I use to document our days, others will feel inspired and encouraged to record their own.”

From Ali:

One of my favorite ways to use stamps is to create pattern backgrounds. For this page I used two of my stamp sets: Love This Memory and Life Circles.  I stamped each circle individually so that they would overlap. Originally I thought I would stamp on the entire page but I changed my mind half-way through and decided to cover the bottom half with pattern paper.

I tell stories about real life. This one is about getting Simon off the bus after school on one particular day.

SUPPLIES that would work great in duplicating this layout:

  5. Love Ali, thank you for the spotlight on her. I love to use stamps mostly for sentments on cards, but also have been trying to make backgrounds more often.

  6. I rarely use stamps as backgrounds in my layouts, but I really like what Ali's done here.

I send out a lot of packages and like to use my stamps to decorate my envelopes. Hopefully that makes my happy mail a little happier.

  7. I like to use stamps on school craft projects - I've been "room mom" for more years than I can count -- with kids 7 years apart the preschool through middle school years go on and on (thankfully.) Stamps have made a special difference in everything from cards the kids create for mom, dad and their grandparents to bigger projects like planters and candle holders. The smile on a childs face when they examine what they've just stamped is priceless.

  22. I love Ali's work and her products! I think her stamps put the love in stamping for me. I use her sentiments as accents, word borders or a subtitle on a page. Can't wait to try out using her stamps to make a background like that! The cool thing about stamps is you can use them over and over (like to create a background) and you don't have to worry about running out :)

  23. I love this layout and the story behind it. Reminds me of what I go through with my daughter. :) As for stamps, I do everything with my stamps. I make cards mostly, but I am a stamping technique junkie. I love learning new ways to use my stamps. Right now I would have to say that my two favorite ways to use my stamps is paper piecing and alcohol markers. Thanks for a chance to win a prize and also for the coupon code. :D

  39. Yes, the first week of school can be exhilarating, exhausting, and upsetting! There are so many expectations of what 'might' be in store. Falling short of those opportunities creates tension and disappointment. It's cool that YOU captured that moment in photo and journaling. Life is full of ups and downs. And it's OK! Am I stilled loved by you? ABSOLUTELY! Thanks for sharing your story!

  43. I love to pair background stamps with other stamps too. I like taking a stamp for instance and maybe using it all over the paper and making a background out of it even if it is not specifcally a background stamp. That way you get more out of your stamps. SSS had a great variety of stamps to choose from. It is the best place to shop for papercrafting supplies
