May Flaum here, and today I'm really excited for two reasons. First of all, because I am totally in love with the new Sunrise Sunset line by artist Finnabair for Prima, and secondly because I get to show you a technique I've been working with that is so easy you won't believe it. Yes, you could make a canvas like mine in about thirty minutes of actual working time.
What I love about these products is that they are very neutral and would work in many ways both simple and clean, and altered and funky. The stencils and metal accents are especially fun to play with & I strongly recommend breaking out your color mediums and just playing.
Supplies Used:
The trick to my canvas here, is that I adhered everything down and then coated with gesso (or white paint would work) so that I had a blank yet very textured and interesting canvas. Once that is totally dry, you just squirt some mist, color with paint, or perhaps use some inks and color to your hearts content. I love that I can't quite guess how it will look when done, or how colors will blend and pool and make cool variations.
Above you can see my canvas once everything was adhered, and below you can see once it was colored and finished with a bit of gold ink as well as some black archival ink and a dot stamp.
I really think to appreciate just how cool this line is, you need to see them in action, so I've created a video to share with you today. I talk about the embellishments, as well as show you my how-to for this type of canvas project.
I have had such fun with these products - and I've just scratched the surface!! You could use a lot of different textures and materials to play with this technique - and I love that it can come together so easily too!
If you want even more, you can find another Finnabair inspired project on my blog today, and this week I also created an even smaller project for the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge this week featuring this technique as well. You can see that project here.
