Ahoy Nautical Trend!

Hi Bloggers! Happy Saturday to you! I'm so pleased to bring you some gorgeous cards made by the lovely and extremely talented Kathy Racoosin! Be sure to check out her blog, The Daily Marker for daily inspiration, if you don't already!

Kathy used the new flat bottom clouds to make "white cap" waves with some flower soft on top.  She also punched a circle then used the new SSS exclusive Sunshine die to get the beautiful rays. How clever!

Check out the  detail photos below to see how Kathy used Peacock Feather distress ink and a sponge dauber to get the perfect looking waves.  To get that lovely looking top of the wave she applied glossy accents and patted down the flower soft gently.  Let dry and repeat on all clouds.

Stamp the sentiment on one of the clouds with this navy ink, and trim to fit on your card.  Add some enamel accents on the whale's eye for an added POP.  Assemble card using pop squares

Most Nautical trends are red, white, & blue so the super fun Kathy decided to mix that up a bit with a medium blue & hot pink for a different twist!  After cutting out the anchor from the Come Sail Away stamp set, trim a white border around the anchor, punch a hole, & coat with glossy accents.

Next, braid some twine & thread it through the anchor.  The Full Card Bubbles was die cut and mounted on white card stock for a simple background.

Lastly, Kathy did a fun spin on the Nautical trend by stamping anchors from the Come Sail Away set on this new Butterfly die from Simon Says Stamp!

Begin by cutting several strips of red, white, & blue paper.   Use glossy accents to glue the papers to some white card stock.  It is very important to note that the paper is the same thickness.  Make sure the strips butt up against each other and stamp the anchor when the paper is dry using Navy ink.

Trim the strips.  Now the newly created strip paper is ready to die cut with the butterfly.  Mount the striped paper on some medium blue paper and glue the butterfly with a dab of glossy accents.  Free cut an elongated "Y" for the stamen of the butterfly and coat with glossy accents.  When dry, attach to the butterfly.

  80. i love the nautical themes. they all have the red, white and blue theme as well (most) and i find that very patriotic, given our nation's state (mess in our government). we are proud of our country, it is the greatest nation in the world, but our politics and BIG government has to go. they (washington) are to be serving the people, not enslaving us. my most sincerest apologies for the rant, i mean to simply say that the red, white and blue that is our flag colors, brings a great deal of passion and emotion to our great nation, and the brave men and women who serve to keep us a free nation, indivisible, under God!

  87. All of Kathy's card are great! Great job creating the waves from the flat bottom clouds! Adding med. blue and hot pink to the traditional r/w/b, was a cool twist. The braided piece is neat, too. I like the cards on Kathy's blog, as well. The two-layer butterfly card is nice. It's ambitious and lots of work to cut strips of cardstock to make her own paper-pieced, striped bkgrd, but it sure looks great. TF the chance to win. :)
