Crazy for WHO?... YOU! + Free Whoot Stamp!

Hi bloggers! Happy Wednesday to you! I'm so thrilled to bring you 2 amazing, adorable, & innovative Art Impressions cards by the sweet friend of Simon, Kathy Racoosin! Follow along as Kathy shares how she made them below the photos.
Supplies:

  • Do you wonder what owl is behind doors?? Bachelor #1 or Bachelor #2?? : )
  • The parquet floor was fast and fun to make using the full card hexagons die. The grout was filled in with Copic markers
  • Using the memento ink gives you lots of control to stamp the particular areas of choice. In this case I opted not to stamp the hat.
  • If you are uncomfortable drawing a line where the hat wasn't stamped this ruler is for you. You can bend it into any shape you need.
  • If you Google "owl photos" you can find some photos like this barn owl for inspiration.
  • Take note... my owl isn't looking card ready yet. If you dampen a rag with texture and dab onto your owl you will see some magic. Be careful to do over do the dabbing.
  • Add some accents black dots when the image dries. To add the details on the feathers you need to work quickly. Immediately after putting a white dot (over your gel pen in the same spot so the white ink can flow and pool) THEN immediately take something sharp place the tip into the white dot .... pull up.
  • Leave your die cuts in the negative space when adding color
  • Add lots of white dots to finish off the card. sprinkle hearts from the falling heart background

 Supplies:

  • The owl on this card was a quicker to color and after using the Copic ink blending solution the owl came to life. Cut under the wing so you can insert the party hat. Feathers were added to the wing with a Micron pen
  • Glossy Accents were added to the owls eyes and to the dots on the background, and then a close up shot after using the ink blending solution.
  • Split a die cut down the middle to stretch it to fit behind by adding some of your favorite adhesive.
BONUS!! Make any purchase at receive a FREE Little WHOOT stamp with each purchase!! Use code freewht at checkout! Hurry!!! While supplies last! Photo shown below of what he looks like!!! Isn't he THE CUTEST?
Thanks for reading today and thanks so much to Kathy for providing these gorgeous & inspiring cards!

Floral Fantasies with Kathy Racoosin!

Hi Bloggers! Happy Saturday to you! I'm always tickled to have special guest artist (and pal) Kathy Racoosin as a guest on our blog! She is not only a phenomenal artist and color-er EXTRAORDINAIRE,  but a sweetheart who is a lot of fun!

Without further ado, Here are 2 beauties that will surely have you grabbing for Copics or your favorite markers! Kathy gives a few pointers on how she made these great cards below:

I love Hero Arts inks not just because the colors are beautiful and crisp but, they last forever. My inks have lasted years without re-inking.
  • Start out with your darkest color in this case BG49
  • Take a light color to color on top of the dark color to blend and soften the darker color.
  • Now you want to add a bit more of the darker color again on the base of the stems and leaves.
  • I wanted to make this bloom look more like some pods for a darker contrast on my card. Use any light and dark browns. I also used a brown to color the stems on the flowers.
  • Color the flowers with any pink. I selected R83
  • Feather in a darker pink and use "0" (colorless blender) to blend the colors on the petals. (There are many ways to blend and this is one of them. I don't always use this technique)
  • Add some white gel pen dots to the open part of the blooms on the flowers. Cut around the black and use some pop dots on some of the blooms to layer on your card. Stamp on the vellum with Ranger Jet Black Ink. Be sure to let the ink dry. Score the vellum wrapping the vellum around the back of the card. Tape onto the back.
The second card was colored the same way. I love to leave in some of the "Chain Links" after die cutting. Carefully lift off of your cutting plates and let some fall out. tape the rest on the back.

Kathy Racoosin teaches Copic Coloring Techniques for STAMPtember™

Hi Bloggers!

We are oh so thrilled to have the super talented, Kathy Racoosin guesting on our STAMPtember™ celebration blog today! I have had the privilege of getting to know Kathy better this year and she is as warm, friendly, and wonderful as she is talented beyond measure! She has an eye for design, and can out color the pros! When Kathy isn't busy with her husband and 2 children, she enjoys whipping up some amazing pieces of art, and thank goodness, you can check them all out on The Daily Marker!

Wow!! 4 Magnificent cards! Let's get some tips and tricks from Kathy so that we can all make them!

Deciding what to do with background after coloring your images can be problematic. This technique is great because you get the results that you might get with a airbrushing generator with ease and zero maintenance.  These are the colors I selected to spray on the backgrounds with the mini misters. Why a mini mister you might ask. Because the tubing touches the bottom of the mister and many don't.  The mini misters above are filled with the Copic reinkers.

These are the stamped images and the extra images that will colored and popped on my cards. I love using stamping masking paper.  Save the blue part of the masking paper because when you are finished spraying you can stick the masked part back on to the blue and save it for future use.  Now I am ready to spray....
For this image I sprayed RV00 and after spraying I like to apply a little heat especially if you will be coloring so you don't over-saturate the paper resulting with the lines bleeding. (Click on the image for a larger view)

Notice anything here?? After my first spray I decided to mix it up and sprayed a second spritz of a different Copic color. So much fun and I love the results. After removing the mask (be sure to save it for future use)outline you image with the same color that you sprayed or a darker marker. This was sprayed with BV00 and outlined with BV02. (Click on the image for a larger view)

I didn't plan ahead and mask the snow so I removed some of the color with "Copic Various Ink" and a rag. (be sure to use in a ventilated area)  After some of the pink background was blotted off with the various ink, dry with a heat gun and color green. (I would recommend drying the paper again so you don't over-saturate the paper) Dampen your rag and dab onto the green, pause and continue to work the area to add texture.

After coloring your the image add some extra details. On "Mimi" I enlarged her eyes. Add some white enamel accents for the snow. I always recommend that you dab a few dots on some scrap paper to make sure you have all the air bubbles out and to practice a few before you start on your card.  When the white is dry (in about one hour...tap on your test snow to see) then you can add the black enamel accents on the bears eyes and nose. Set aside to let dry. (note: If I added the black to anything else I feel it would have been to much..like her eyes or boots) I added glossy accents to the boots. Have you wished that the wobble came in a smaller size? I just cut mine apart and customized it to the head. I used glossy accents to adhere!
