What do you think of the New blog Layout for Simon Says Stamp?

Ok, pretty please be honest! I don't want the same answer as when I ask my hubby if my butt looks good in these jeans. Really, I need the help of a real friend,. You know? A friend who will tell me if I have a booger hangin' out of my nose......

What do you think of the new blog layout?

As is especially obvious from the look of our previous layout, I am NOT GOOD WITH THESE sorts of things...Help help! Our dear friend Marcia designed this for us. I happen to love it, but do you have any suggestions or is there something you would like us to add or delete?

Is anyone out there? echoooooooo in a cave ;) Insight? Anyone?

Luckiest Mom in All of the World...I Think?!

Do you have any experience with potty training? I have zero, zilch, nadda! But I'd love to share my toilet story with you if you'll allow me to bend your ear! (Note: this does not pertain to our dog Simon, but our little boy)

Lately, he has taken to stripping. Do you know what I mean? Just tearing off all of his clothes - sometimes diaper too - and streaking through the house. Ok, I admit, it was cute at first. It's different now. Now the neighbors think we are lunatics while grandma thinks we need to be better "role models" (what does that mean anyway? It's not like I streak through the house, seriously grandma, I PROMISE I am not a streaker!)

It's not just the stripping. Last week, first thing in the morning while still in his crib, he took off his jammies (they even button AND zip, but he still got 'em off!) .....and also got the diaper off too. THE POOPY DIAPER! AAAHHHH!!!! Stinky, nasty, smelly, and dirty as it was, HE LOVED IT. OH NO! What's a mom to do? ONESIE! ? Yes, yes, I started putting him in onesies under everything. That lasted about 4 whole days, because it didn't take him long to figure out how to get that thing off too.

So today, he was pulling his pants off for the hundredth time. As I started to say "PLEASE NO!", he said, "potty". ???????? I thought..... "What?????!!!?" Ok, I am a first time mom. He is 19 months old. I am behind the 8 ball here because I haven't even read that chapter in my books yet. It has never even occurred to me to put him on a toilet. Did I mention that he purposely pees on me when I change his diaper. Oh yes, it is on purpose. As soon as I lie him on the floor, he gets that sneaky grin. Immediately after I open his diaper he likes to give me a nice little shower followed by a SO PROUD Of himself smile and giggle. (it's hard not to laugh, did I create this monster habit?) It's like a juggling act, holding legs, blocking the stream, wiping, getting on a fresh diaper... Moms...you must know what I mean!?

After he said "potty", my response was "do you have to go potty?" He ran his pantless little body straight to the bathroom, pulled the stepstool from the sink and moved it to the toilet. I was shocked, because this is a behavior that we have neither taught him, nor showed him. He climbed onto the toilet and I gave a helping hand with the rest of his diaper. Next thing you know, he did his business. ONE AND TWO! *wink

Hubby came home and we immediately went to the store to buy a potty seat. Thinking maybe it was a fluke, we asked him as soon as we got home if he had to go "potty". After heading straight to the bathroom, he made good use of his brand new potty seat.

My sister is an experienced mom and tells me it's a fluke. He'll probably forget about it all tomorrow. I am a bit bewildered at it all. Sad too because he is my baby. I guess not for much longer...... Now what do I do?

Exciting work for the Reduce Recycle Reuse Challenge at Simon Says Stamp

WOW! Look what Vicki has made in the spirit of reduce, reuse, recycle that the Simon Says Stamp challenge has sponsored in honor of Earth Day.

Okay....I remembered another project that I just recently completed that I should include here....It's a mini album made with paper bags (the inner pages) and it uses a Prima package insert as an Owire cover.

Earth Day (April 22nd) is fast approaching. I think it's wonderful all the scrapbooking companies that have begun to go green with recycled products, soy based inks and bulk packaging. But, I for one, think the indsutry has a long way to go. There are literally hundreds of product packaging that get tossed everyday. If we each were able to reuse and recycle just one package a day..that would be millions of items not heading for land fills.

I love to reuse packaging. I reuse acetate for cards and embellishments. A recent card I did is featured in this months Scrapbooking.com magazine here.

Here are several other projects using product packaging from empty containers to product backings.

AccuCut

I got this AccuCut Grand Mark machine when one of my LSS's went out of business a while back. It was a great deal...and I love to make my own chipboard, clipboard and acrylic projects. Let me share a few things I've done:

It's a BOY!

It's a BOY! Congratulations to Terra and her family on their healthy baby boy! Samuel is 6 pounds 13 ounces and I am so excited to head over to the hospital as soon as possible to get a peek at him and visit Terra!

Reports from Terra's hubby are that "Terra is doing well and we are pumped!"

It's a Party

Some more Design work for Simon Says Stamps, I've tried to vary the cute elephants, this one is using Basic Grey and paper piece-ing, the sentiments come from the same set.

Isnt' he cute, I've used some scraps of my Bo Bunny papers and coloured him to match.

Wasn't sure what to do with the stripy elephant till I started randomly stamped them on a scrap of paper and realised what a brilliant background they make, I've made a small topper so you can see the background papers, the sentiment is also from the same set.
