Unmounted House Mouse Rubber Stamp Sets are HERE!

Finally, the cutest stamps around are now available as UNMOUNTED SETS! Not only is this an affordable way to add to your collection, it's also a great space saver!

The creator of these mice designs is Ellen Jareckie. As a child, she spent much of her spare time drawing. In addition to that, she kept a variety of pets throughout her childhood. These included a pet pig named Pipsqueak (who was raised on a bottle), a Bobwhite quail named Quincy, some lizards, snakes, goats, ducks, rabbits, cats, dogs, and of course mice. Her first encounter with mice occurred when her sister, Wren, brought home from school a mouse named Speedy. She immediately fell in love with the soft, warm and tiny creature. Not long after that Ellen also raised a litter of orphaned baby wild mice which were later released in a nearby field.

Of all the animals Ellen has drawn, however, the mice continue to be by far the most popular. Maybe this is partly because of the humanlike expressions Ellen adds to the mice or maybe because people are fascinated by their small size in comparison to our relatively large human world. In any event, after all these years of drawing mice Ellen continues to enjoy creating these whimsical characters and it shows in the look on Mudpie Mouse's face when he gets to eat a cookie that's as big as he is!

Beadalon & Artistic Wire - A Welcome Addition!

Welcome to the Simon Says Stamp Family!!! We are very proud to announce the addition of Beadalon and Artistic Wire to the crafting family at www.simonsaysstamp.com! For more than 30 years, Beadalon has been offering quality tools, wire, jewelry findings and crafting products. In December of 2009, they further complemented their product line by acquiring Artistic Wire, a line of superior color coated copper wire.

We were inspired to jump into the Artistic Wire world after taking a class with Tim Holtz at CHA. Look at the fabulous tag we made! Notice the smoke swirling out of the chimneys???? It's wire! Wire is becoming a very popular embellishment in the altered art and paper craft world due to it's versatility and depth.

We also were looking for quality metal working tools and Beadalon is the best in the business! The Chain Nose Pliers (Econo or Designer Sparkle), the Mini Tool Kit, and the Jump Ring Opener are all wonderful tools to use with the ever inspiring Tim Holtz Idea-ology Line, the various other Charms we have available in our store, and the Artistic Wire of course!!!

Let me just hightlight my favorite - the Jump Ring Opener Tool!!! It's perfect! Open and close Jump Rings easily by sliding one into the slots on the side and twisting. No more fumbling around and dropping your Jump Rings on the floor!

It's easy to use, its' practical, and it is soooo affordable!

Happy Friday to everyone!! To celebrate the upcoming weekend, I'm going to give you some delicious inspiration to look at! Are you familiar with the artist Penny Johnson? If not I strongly recommend you take a look...she has some really cute and awesome designs!! Here's a mini bio on the artist....

Originally from London, England, Penny now lives in Todmorden, a small Pennine town in the North of England, with her husband Laurence, son Toby, and their cat Desmond! Penny loves experimenting with colour and creating artworks spontaneously, as well as designing to commission for publishers and manufacturers. She has a wide range of styles including quirky and cute characters, cute little retro children, abstracts and florals.

Debby used a Whiff Of Joy stamp called Charlie the Postman. Need a postcard like the one on this card...or maybe the exact thing? Try Vintage Postcard by Unity! Want to get that older look for the edges? Try using Tea Dye or Vintage Photo ink pads by Tim Holtz! All you have to do is ink up an Ink Blending Tool (also by Mr. Tim Holtz) and "swoosh" it along the edges!

Trinket Pin Ideas from Maya Road!!!

Trinket Pins by Maya Road hold a special place in my heart because they are a dimensional embellishment ( I love things that 'pop'), they add sparkle and that certain "something special" to all of your projects, and they are so affordable! Trinket Pins are different than any other paper craft embellishment out there!

And leave it to Maya Road to come up with so many useful designs for Trinket Pins - Gems, Crystals, Vintage Pearls, Flowers, Leaves (my fave;), Hearts, Stars, and coming soon - Christmas Trees!!! Thank you Maya Road...keep them coming because we can't get enough!

If you are like me, you love the Trinket Pins by Maya Road, but are unsure of how to incorporate them into all of your projects. Thankfully, Maya Road Design Team Member, Jennifer Beason, is chock full of ideas and has shared them in the Maya Road Newsletter.

Jennifer's ideas for Trinket Pins include nesting a few behind flowers or ribbon, or sandwiching them between layers of chipboard so only the head of the pins show. Another "thinking outside the box" idea is to break off the heads of the pins and adhere them to your project by themselves. Just gently rock the head of the pin back and forth until is breaks off. I love how she used the Vintage Pearl Trinket Pin heads as an embellishment to her snowflake in the example at the right.

Jennifer has even found a creative way to store all of her Leaf Trinket Pins by reusing a Maya Road tin. The fabulous photo is below, but check out her full tutorial HERE courtesy of the Maya Road Design Team Blog! I would love to be this organized and creative!!!!

We carry all of the Maya Road Trinket Pins in our store and always anxiously await the release of new ones. We will be getting these two new CHA additions shortly...just in time for the holidays!!!

Copic Black & White Coloring Tutorial!

Wow! What a day! I'm so excited to show you all of the new goodies that are coming in to our store SOON...stay tuned!! For now, I'd love to share with you a wonderful tutorial I came across from Rachel....thanks Rach!! You can check out her awesome blog HERE. The Tutorial

You can use any color of grays that you like, I tend to use the "C's" but neutral and warm grays will work just fine. For this image I'm using C1, C3, C5, C7, C9 and 0 (Colorless blender). Ignore the 110, I didn't end up using it :0)

**"0" is the Colorless Blender...very cool & a must have for any Copic user!!

Last step and finished image!

Ingredients:

Stamp - The Greeting Farm

Color - Copics

Paper - Scrap

Nestabilities - Labels 10 and Ovals

Cricut cart - Home Accents (black flourishes)

Glossy Accents (clear coat on flourishes)
