Behind the Scenes with Wendy Vecchi

Hi folks!

As you might know, Wendy Vecchi is celebrating STAMPtember with Simon Says Stamp! Friday we featured a fun art part and rubber stamping video created by Wendy on our blog. (you can revisit it HERE) Today, we'd like to show some behind the scenes footage on Wendy's Studio and get to know her a little better.

We have very exciting news! Wendy's brand new, custom kits are going to be available at Simon VERY SOON! In addition, she has been working on some very special projects and might give you some top secret information if you pop by her blog tomorrow.

All of Wendy's stamps and art parts are on sale through Midnight EST tonight at 25% off so you still have a few hours to get some GREAT products at SUPER SAVINGS. We have never done a
sale like this before and might not do it again, so be sure to check it out!

Want to learn more about Wendy? We did! So I asked her some questions in honor of

ME: If you were stranded on a desert island for 30 days, (an island with an electric power generator ;) what 5 stamping supplies would you bring and why?

WENDY: 1. my studio 490 stamps
2. my studio 490 art parts

3. gotta have Ranger’s archival ink for the art parts

4. I can NOT live without Tim Holtz’ distress stains

5. ok...this is hard...I was going to choose Ranger’s Heat-It Craft
Tool...but if I’m on an island, I guess I could dry the inks in the #5 will be Ranger’s Craft sheet. But wait! What about Grungeboard??? But then I don’t have Tim’s scissors to cut it...and I’d need a blending tool to add shading with the distress inks...yikes!

ME: :) ME: How and when did you first start stamping ?

WENDY: I saw a lady demoing heat embossing about 10 years ago & I thought it was pure magic. I honestly thought I’d save a ton of money by making my own cards... As any stamper knows...that’s not exactly how the end of the story goes... Several thousand stamps later...I’m having the time of my life.

ME: What time of day do you feel most inspired? What makes you most inspired?

WENDY: I’m an early the sooner I head to the studio, the better the day is & the more art I can get done. As soon as the sun goes down, I’m done creating. I never stamp after dark, unless it’s the evening before I leave for CHA! For me, inspiration is in antique stores & flea markets. NEW stamps are also very inspiring. 71 stamp sets later, I’m still thrilled & INSPIRED when my new “hot off the press” rubber is delivered.

ME: What is your favorite part of making art?

WENDY: The process for sure. The end result is good, but I so enjoy the whole process & sometimes I’m actually sad when the project is finished. You can not be cranky when you’re making art. It’s impossible.

ME: When did your awesome husband, Mister Rick, first realize how exceptionally talented you are at making art?

WENDY: I had to ask him for this answer. He said he saw it immediately...oh sure...he’s sucking up for something! Smart guy!

His first real exposure to my new world was when my first stamps were released @ CHA in July of 2008. He came, saw the display in the Stampers Anonymous booth, heard some comments & then realized good things might be coming. But he said he was really impressed when we did the cruise with Tim back in 2009 & he saw me autographing things. He said he was
thinking...WHAT’s going on here? She’s just my wife”.

ME: Do you have a picture of your all time favorite Art piece that
YOU have made?

WENDY: I honestly think that my most favorite art is my studio. It’s basically a giant collage! Rick & I designed it & we have spent lots of fun time looking for the perfect storage to make it comfy & convenient. I absolutely LOVE it & it makes me happy to walk thru the door.

Thank you to Wendy for celebrating STAMPtember and being part of our Simon Family!
