Create with Tim Holtz Configurations!

I recently had the good fortune to be able to attend a Tim Holtz class with Heidi in Houston, Texas! We got to witness again the fantastic teaching style of Tim Holtz and learn from the creator to use his products! A LOT went into this box, but here are a few little snippets of what I did with mine!

Start with a 5.5" x 5.5" configurations box. We ended up removing one of the pieces, but Tim designed these for rearranging possibilities - you can keep the pieces you don't use for next time!
Cut down some Seasonal Paper Stash papers to fit on the outer sides and insides of the little boxes - Tim & Mario used a Martha Stewart Scoring Board to make folding the pieces into the inside small boxes easier.
Some of the Idea-ology you see above:

Foundations helped hold the entire piece together!

Note: You can mix and match ANY idea-ology to make the piece your own. There is SO much to choose from too!!!

Make your own Little Words labels for Corked Vials!
If you want a distressed look, you can also use:
Ink Blending Tool, Distress Stains, Distress Inks

Additional Embellishments: Jingle Bells, Tinsel, and we added Rock Candy Stickles for a nice sugar coating (you can see it a little bit on the right side in this photo)!

Other possibilities for Configurations:
  • Ever since Tim Holtz planted the idea that you can turn the inside boxes around in Configurations, I've been dying to make an advent calendar with pull-out drawers!!
  • Create a wall hanging
  • Use the inside pieces for ornaments! Punch a hole through the top, decorate, and deck the halls!
  • Use the inside pieces as place settings for holiday guests. Decorate the outside and put a small treat or the person's photo inside
  • Stack inside pieces in a triangular tree shape and adhere together for a family tree - each box dedicated to a different family member
Happy Crafting!

  10. I love configurations! Although I don't own any xD They are quite expensive to buy here or shipped here, and I have so many crafting stuff to buy. It's going to take a while, but I'll get some one day. I do things for my dollhouse and configurations would be perfect way to show them.
