Steampunk Valentines!

Hello! I'm so excited to share with you today fun twists on traditional Valentine's cards! Can you believe it's almost Valentine's Day? Here in America, Valentine's Day is a big day and we send out as many Valentine's cards as we can possibly do! Valentine's are for all the special people in your life; a special neighbor, your best friend, your family, and everyone you love!  I remember when I was younger it was so exciting to count up the Valentine's my friends would sneak in my locker or on my desk at school!

Isn't this combination of Inkadinkado stamps and Jolee's Stickers just perfection?!

Here are simple directions to make one of your own:
1. For each Valentine, fold a 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of black cardstock in half to create a side-folding card. Cut a piece of white cardstock to 2 7/8" x 4 3/8" and mount to the center of the card’s front panel. Set aside.

2. Cut white cardstock to 2 3/4" x 4 1/4". Stamp the Cogs image with black ink as desired on the panel, choosing the density of the ink color by either stamping directly after inking or stamping first on scrap paper then onto the cardstock for a softer, more faded image. You can stamp the image multiple times to fill the space, perhaps making your images different densities. Colorize the full panel with your choice of one or more dye inks using a piece of sponge as an applicator. Adhere this panel to the center of your card.

3. Stamp the Clock with Wings image once or twice, depending on which card you are making. Fussy-cut the wings and colorize with dye inks, adding glitter glue to the edges. Adhere the wings to the back of the heart sticker you will be using. If layering two sets of wings, offset them slightly. Attach the wings and sticker to the card with 3D-Dots.

4. Add further embellishments such as the pearls and gear stickers.

Of course we have to give a shout out to our Steampunk Design King- Tim Holtz! Check out this Steampunk theme tag he did during the 12 Tags of Christmas, we are still in love!

  7. I love these cards. They are so very different, just gorgeous! The Valentine's Day tradition in our house is this: My husband buys me a box of chocolates, being very careful to get something special. He then proceeds to eat the goodies and give me the box - LOL! Why, because when we were first married and Valentine's day rolled around I was always on a diet. So now, its become a family joke. He picks out the candy he likes and I get the fancy box to craft with - LOL!

  28. We don't have any Valentine's Day traditions but we do make it a point to spend lots of time together doing things we love. In return for his cooperation on Valentine's Day, we also celebrate March 14th, which is the male version of Valentine's Day which I won't discuss on here. SOME of you will know what I am talking about. lol

  32. Fun cards!

DH and I don't do much for Valentine's. I hate money spent on cut flowers, give me a plant for my flowerbed. :D And I usually buy my candy the day after because it's on sale. Am I cheap date or what!

When our girls were little, I tried to get them to make their Valentine's but they always wanted the store bought ones. Go figure.

  36. Steampunk is really catching my imagination (unexpectedly so). As for Valentine tradition - the only one I really know is the card given by a secret admirer to the object of his/her desire.

  41. I love these steampunk cards! Yep, Tim is King : )
One of my favorite Valentine traditions is to make my own cards...even in school for the big make-a-mailbox and everyone exchange party. I was young and didn't do them production line style, so I ran out of the feathers and glitter...the last few were not as pretty...a boy in class noticed his was not as fancy and complained to the teacher!
